you know, i would be happy with 45 grand per year. If I was simply getting paid 3750 a month i could live very contently. I could use 1000 a month to play the markets like a casino and still have plenty for all my living expenses and luxuries. Hey Bing, could you get me a better job? LOL. I am content enough for now with my low low salary (13668 gross if I work all my hours which I usually don't, they have a thing at call centers called volunteer time off or VTO and its worse than crack). You know with my measure of happiness at my pathetic salary (and I am pretty happy...really), I really don't understand why anyone needs more than 45k per year. If you can't manage to have a happy life with that amount, then your insatiability is stunning. I am far from understanding why multi millionaires still work. Don't they ever get tempted to throw off their restraints and retire in the Amsterdam Red Light district. It's true that money provides happiness, but I guess in my case it doesn't take alot. I just get home and burn a sweet smelling fat one (not a cigar if you know what I mean)watch my digital cable, play my guitar and keyboard, sing, and damn, I even get laid from time to time. So that CEO guy, whoever he was, Bing, is just a nutty little douchebag. Peace everyone!

I agree, I have no desire for billions, $50-75 million and I'll be content.

Having dealt with the sorta rich, the very rich, and the super rich, it's usually the sorta rich that act the way you observed you fellow traveler. More often than not, from my experience, the very rich and super rich are actually pretty decent people. They've gotten past the intoxication of wealth and power and have managed to become human again. This applies to those that made it themselves, and those that inherited it.

However, as much as money can buy happiness, it still can't buy intelligence, or common sense.

Some people are born to be miserable and they get really frustrated when they can't buy their way to happiness. Life is full of little ups and downs, the higher up you are, the further you fall. Imagine lying in bed and worrying that you are down to your last five million, and you may have to cut back on some of the more expensive pleasures you used to enjoy with your rich friends.

Bummer, makes one almost suicidal.

"maybe it’s better to be in the middle of things"

Of course it is. When the lions attack the herd, they always go for the fringes, which is where you find the leaders and the stragglers. We would all like to have prides like the king of the jungle, I'm sure. But in the end, I think that our existence is more about running like crazy across our own personal Serengeti, just like the Wildebeest.
