Off the subject, but at one time you wrote a piece for Esquire in the 80’s about a man’s diet for weight loss. It included martinis, cigars and frozen diet entrees’. Please re-print. It was great!

Every day is game day…lotsa bastards lined up to prove you wrong these days…and take yer job…I’m pretty mean about that…being there with the latest data on time means so much…these days when the sponge is being squeezed yet again…

bing, you are stewing about a doo hickey, let it go. last week i had a close call and after it passed i saw the world with very different eyes. the world is a very beautiful place and it is not the money or fame that counts. no matter how bad things get there are still the important things. i, like many, have known the joy of deeply loving a spouse, my child, family and friends. my grandfather was a powerful man, a sports coach turned minister, who never angered or yelled. he had a phd in moral philosophy and taught me many things about compassion and kindness. i saw him get a phone calls at night to comfort a family where all but one had been killed in a crash. he came home at dawn, got a few hours of sleep and then preformed a wedding. the man was a true viking, a spine of steel and a big heart. he was a socialist like many danish family members and the finest man i knew. i had parents who would have died to protect me, i knew that deep love and have already help one of them die. it was not a burden after all that had been given to me.

its the small things, the laugh of a your child, bumble bees in ones yard, and shelling out a bit of cash for a cocker spaniel so that the old gal could see another sunrise and have another cuddle on your lap. its astonishing to make that contact with another, even another species, sharing joy and companionship.

poke some fun at the petty things and know that you touch peoples lives and your humor brightens the day of so many, and that is no small thing.

Okay, Bing, I checked out your action figure. It will do to get started. But to move ‘The Real Bing’ action figures in a big way will require a movie. No sense huffing and puffing your way through endless chase scenes. Just contact the folks at Pixar. I’m three quarters through a script and will submit it for your approval early next week. Timing’s good. These days business needs a superhero. Hope you look all right in tights.

Yahoo’s market cap based on yesterday’s closing price is $20 billion, and they’ve got over $3 billion in cash on the balance sheet.

That’s down a good bit from the glory days of 1999-2000, but for a company fabricated out of whole cloth less than 20 years ago still very impressive.

Ok so the web search on Yahoo has now dissed you off the first page. Daunting yes but disaster…no. So no boo hooing right. Your a fighter and a cigar noshing winner.

Success occurs where opportunity and preparedness meet. Opportunity is knocking Bingo so you have to aks yourself, ” Am I prepared to go the distance with this opportunity?”

You have a platform through the web and Fortune to garner enough attention with the “I have been impuned by evil usurpers of my name at Bing.com angle” You are the self made individual everyman striving for your very existence against the scary large technolgy corporation.

America loves the underdog, the lone gun man against the lawless gang. This is your high noon. Get out there and generate some indignant controversy. Get on Letterman, the morning show, use your media chits and hit the air waves who knows maybe a SNL bit of YouTube Palin/Tina Fey proportionscould be in your future(probably over streching on that last one after all how can a cigar smoking silohette compete with NRA gun shooting beauty queen turned poltician angle).

At any rate this is your chance to raise public awareness of all things Bing, particularly Stanley Bing.

Fire in the belly, eye of the tiger stuff baby. Gotta run. Let’s do lunch have your people call my people. Chow!

Ed, I like that. Bing Classic. I already have an action figure. Follow this link: http://images.google.com/images?gbv=2&hl=en&q=stanley+bing&sa=N&start=18&ndsp=18. It’s the third image on the second page of Stanley Bing images. It was made a few years ago by a company in Los Angeles. They do a whole body scan (external) and then extrude an action figure Mine came with a BlackBerry and cell phone and interchangeable “pissed off” head. I’m not kidding. Only two were made. I still have one. The BB and cell phone are lost, as is the tiny cigar that came with it, too.

Bing, I agree and sympathize with you one hundred percent. It’s time for you to take a strong commercial counter-initiative. I’d suggest following the winning strategy of that great American icon, Coke. Call your blog Bing Classic. Then imitate the Disney genius by merchandising Bing action figures, available in all black or all white of course. Then counter MS’s own strategy and launch a new search engine. Call it Microsift.
